Analog 2.9

How popular is your Web site ? What pages are visited the most ? These and other questions are important to Web page designer in determining priorities for Web design. Analog is a popular tool that analyzes the logfiles from your web server to tell you which pages are most popular, which countries people are visiting from, which sites they tried to follow broken links from, etc. It is considered one of the fastest web statistics programs. Analog was written by Stephen Turner which makes it available at no cost. For additional documentation and source code visit the Analog web page.

Usage

The standard PRW.NET WebBusiness or WebEnterprise account setup places a program called 'analog.cgi' on your admin directory. To produce the traffic report just open the following URL:

http://www.yourdomain/admin/analog.cgi

where "yourdomain" is substituted by your domain name (e.g. company.com). The 'admin' directory is password protected and uses the same usernames and passwords that you setup on Frontpage. You can then print the report from your Web browser. Note that logfiles are periodically rotated so make sure you print the reports periodically.
To see an example Analog report press here. There are many options to Analog; advanced users can modify configuration options by adding additional command line arguments on the analog.cgi script. If you have any questions or problems using Analog feel free to send us a message to support@prw.net
